Don’t use a flashback merely to illustrate what the characters are relating verbally. It’s often more effective to remain focused on the character who is telling the story, so as to gauge what the experience means to them. I have to laugh. ConKon mentions sex on her desk and, boom, flashback. Thanks Ronny, cus it's been so long for me the word sex doesn't conger an image anymore. Thanks for the backup visual. Jonny tells Papa about his dream as we see the flashback of him in a cold sweat sitting up in bed. ANYTHING Starr says to shown again and again! I don't know what to make of this. It's damn distracting. Yeah, Jonny nekid is welcome anytime... but the flashbacks are making an already cheesy cheesfest worse. One decent one was Carly and the bracelet at Kelly's. Her flashback was VO while still on camera and then cut to Jonny responding. That was nicely edited and tasteful. THAT should happen about three times a month! Didn't count how many on Monday. Seemed like about 7 in one show.

There was a link to the site I got that quote from. It didn't post along with the rest. Still figuring out this board.

I DON'T LIKE THE FLASHBACKS. There are too may of them. When telling a story, flashbacks should be used sparingly.
